Since February 2023, travelers throughout Europe have been able to book a more sustainable fare that already includes the reduction or compensation of flight-related CO₂ emissions in the price.

How does it work? Quite simply: When choosing Economy Green and Business Green , 20 percent of flight-related CO2 emissions are reduced through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and the remaining 80 percent of flight-related CO2 emissions are offset to the corresponding extent by contributing to high-quality climate protection projects. This combination of reducing and offsetting is firmly linked to the new fares and offers an easy way to fly more sustainably.

Why fly with Sustainable Aviation Fuel?

SAF is a real alternative to fossil fuels and a key on the way to CO2-neutral aviation.

Compared to fossil fuels, SAF reduces CO2 emissions by at least 80 percent. In order to reduce flight-related CO2 emissions with SAF,

the airlines of the Lufthansa Group calculate this and use the required amount of SAF on future Lufthansa Group flights.
